PDO Threads

Thread lifting is an innovative technique for skin rejuvenation, reinforcement and lifting. As a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment, it only requires a short period of recuperation.

PDO threads consist of biodegradable material (polydioxanone) that has been used in surgery for several decades. They can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns on the face and body, using different thread types and techniques, including forehead, cheeks, eyebrows, nose, jawline, neck, decolletage, inner thighs, knees, abdomen and many more.

What is thread tissue elevation?

This is an innovative technique, which offers the benefit of a non-surgical intervention and therefore, it only requires a short period of recuperation. The material consists of biodegradable threads that have long been used in surgery. During this procedure, threads are inserted into the deeper connective tissues. They attach themselves in the subcutaneous tissue and if positioned properly they create tension in the desired direction.  This creates a mild stretch of the subcutaneous tissue and the skin, which is firmed up after a few days by the natural increase in connective tissue (fibrosing).

Local anaesthesia is used for the treatment and the threads are absorbed after a certain time depending on the material. Additional threads can be placed at any time.

  • less stress compared to conventional face

  • no visible scars
  • generally very quick healing
  • little treatment time (approx. 15 to 40 minutes)
  • low risk of pain and inflammation
  • result is seen immediately after the

How does the treatment work?

The area of treatment is locally anaesthetised and then the absorbable thread is inserted into the tissue. The type and the number of threads that are to be applied will be discussed with you beforehand. By this minimally invasive procedure new connective tissue is build up around the thread so that the skin gets firmer and tighter. Certain types of threads can also lift the facial tissue to its original position. This new and gentle method leaves neither wounds nor scars. The threads are absorbed after a certain time depending on the type of thread. The results will be visible for a longer period. Your doctor can give you more detailed information on this.

Depending on the consultation and the treatment area, different kinds of threads and treatment techniques can be used. The areas of the face and the body that can be treated are:

  • Eyebrow
  • Cheek
